“Keshikchidagh” state historical and cultural reserve is located at 75 km distance from the centre of Aghstafa, 28 km from Boyuk-Kasik village. The reserve covering approximately 25 square km stretches Azerbaijani-Georgian border. Caves complex is situated on the boundless Jeyranchol, Gatardagh chain, 15 kilometre north-east from Jandar lake, on the precipice sheer cliffs surrounding south and south-east of mountains from the height of(+ 750-950 meters above sea level.

Order of the president number 2563, dated December 19, 2007 on giving “Keshikchidagh” state historical and cultural reserve status to the cave complex surrounded part of Keshikchidagh chain in Aghstafa District of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the purpose of guarding and protecting this historical and cultural monument which is worship and refuge of our ancestors is considered estimable.

There are more than 70 caves, a castle, two temples and a sacred place in “Keshikchidagh” state historical and cultural reserve. Reserve consists of natural and artificial caves, castle and monastery carved in Early and middle Ages. Keshikchi gala (Guardian castle) built on the precipice sheer cliff by the native population of Caucasus Albania in V century AD and meant “guardian” is similar with the other castles in Azerbaijan territory due its architectural structure characteristics. Numerous carves, temples and sacred place is identical with the monuments built in Caucasus Albania.

In honor of the visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to this region, the highest peak of the north-western region was named after Ilham Aliyev and there was erected monument. During the registration of the monuments in this region “Peak named after Ilham Aliyev” has been registered as a monument after declaration of Keshikchidagh carves complex as reserve. Tourists and excursionists visiting reserve, as well as, carve temples, historical monuments are photographed in front of the “Peak named after Ilham Aliyev”.

The reserve is regularly protected and equipped with modern amenities by the employees. The way to our history has been opened for people interested in stone inscription of this ancient land, monuments inherited by our ancestors after order issued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on giving “Keshikchidagh” state historical and cultural reserve status to the Keshikchidagh caves complex.
